Mission statement

The foundation and heart of our Mission as the People of God in LSM is our Eucharistic and sacramental life, in which we are built up as a community in Jesus Christ, seeking to worship God in the beauty of holiness, and to serve Him in daily life.

Particular objectives for 2007/2008

Worship:

To make our celebration of Sung Mass at weekday festivals more widely known.

The life of prayer:

To underline the corporate value of the daily office and to encourage participation in a month of guided prayer.

Teaching:

To work on and try out elements of a joint course to be developed with our linked parishes of St Mary Magdalen, Oxford, and All Saints, Margaret Street.

Young People:

To build on the opportunities developed for young people in the life of the church.

Music:

To make creative use of the resources available for music, including the new organ.

Ministry to visitors:

To improve further the welcome and information we offer to visitors, including virtual visitors to the website To provide a history leaflet in other languages.

Outside concerns:

Further to promote the Overseas Church Links Group and the Social Responsibility Group.

Environment:

To reflect on environmental issues as they affect our parish.

Christian giving:

To review our approach to and organisation of Christian giving.

Ecumenical links:

To respond to the particular initiative for Advent from Emmanuel URC and to pursue suggestions made following the last visit to Chant d’Oiseau.
