Lent Courses
These usually take two forms at LSM: firstly, a course of sermons at
the Sunday morning High Mass; and secondly a series of meetings on a weekday
evening. Anyone is welcome to attend the Wednesday evening course: you do
not have to be a regular worshipper at LSM.
In 2011, the Sunday Morning Sermon Course is on the theme Key Texts in the Epistles, and the programme is as follows:
| March 13: | :The free gift in the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many (Romans 5.15) |
| The Revd Canon Giles Fraser, Chancellor of St Paul's Cathedral |
| March 20: | Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness (Romans 4.3): |
| Chris Griffiths (Westcott House) |
| March 27: | We rejoice in God through Our Lord Jesus Christ
through whom we have now received our reconciliation (Romans 5.11): |
| The Very Revd John Hall, Dean of Westminster |
| April 3: | Once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord (Ephesians 5.8): |
| The Revd Jonathan Lawson,Chaplain of St Hild & St Bede College, Durham |
| April 10: | He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit which dwells in you (Romans 8.11): |
| The Revd Christopher Woods, Chaplain of Christ's College |
The weekday evening meetings this year are on Wednesday evenings in the Lady Chapel, beginning at 19:30. The theme is The Use of the Bible through the Christian centuries and the detailed programme is as follows:
| March 16: | The Early Church |
| March 23: | Pre-Reformation |
| March 30: | Post-Reformation |
| April 6: | The Nineteenth Century |
| April 13: | The Present Day |
There will also be a reflection on two Stations of the Cross at each 12:30
Friday Mass during Lent.
