Choir and Organ CDs
In 2009 the LSM choirs made the first ever complete recording of a major cantata for Passiontide by the English composer Sir Arthur Somervell (1863-1937). The Passion of Christ was composed in 1914 and belongs to the same tradition as Stainer's Crucifixion and Maunder's Olivet to Calvary. The passion narrative unfolds mainly in recitative drawn from the Gospel texts, while solo arias and "choral meditations" reflect on the action. This is also the first recording to feature the new Kenneth Tickell organ installed in Little St Mary's in 2007.
Mary Ward soprano, Ann Gustard contralto, Robert DeWolf tenor, Alan Loader bass,
