Music at LSM

Little St Mary’s cherishes its thriving and vibrant musical tradition. Every Sunday throughout the year, and on weekday festivals, the choirs and organ complement and enhance the church’s rich liturgy of worship. The choirs perform a wide-ranging repertoire, stretching from Gregorian chant to the present day; details of the current music list can be found here. LSM uses the New English Hymnal.

The church maintains three choirs: the Parish Choir (SATB) of adults and students, sing every Sunday. They are joined twice a month by our Choristers (boys and girls, 7+), recruited from schools across the city, who also enjoy regular opportunities each month to perform in their own right. Our Junior Choir (ages 3-7) provides musical opportunities and training for younger children. The Director of Music, Simon Jackson, is always pleased to hear from anyone interested in joining the choirs.

The magnificent new organ amply meets the needs of this liturgical tradition.

Organ recitals, chamber music concerts and choral events are a regular feature, taking full advantage of the church's excellent acoustic and quiet location. A list of forthcoming events can be found here. If you wish to hire the church as a concert venue, please contact the LSM Diary.

The Director of Music is Simon Jackson and the Honorary Associate Organist is Sarah Macdonald.
