An overview of services at LSMSunday being a Holy Day of obligation, several services take place. The "main event" is the High Mass which occurs at 10:30; there is also a Low Mass at 08:00 for those who prefer a quieter and more private service, as well as Evensong (BCP) and Benediction at 18:00. Evensong is usually conducted by a cantor plus congregation; however on some Sundays each year the Junior Choir provides a full Choral Evensong. The times of Sunday services are summarised here. Several services take place daily at LSM. The standard weekly programme can be found here. There are slight variations (the modern language service occurs on a different day week to week) and on the spring and late summer Bank Holidays, the morning Low Mass is at 10:00. As well as these standard services, LSM celebrates a Sung Mass at 19:00 on all major festivals. A summary of the coming months' festal Masses may be found here. The Ministry of Healing at LSMAt one Wednesday (10:00) Low Mass every month (usually the 3rd Wednesday of the month), anointing and laying-on of hands is offered with prayer for healing and wholeness. The Intercessions at this service, and those at the Thursday 18:30 Mass the following day, focus particularly on the sick and those who care for them, and include some time of silence. Alongside this ministry, there is a Prayer Group which maintains a confidential list of sick people who have particularly asked for prayer; members meet for 10 minutes of quiet before the Wednesday or Thursday Mass mentioned above. Further information may be obtained from the Vicar, Fr Andrew Greany. |
