Who’s Who
Clergy
Canon Robert Mackley has been Vicar of Little St Mary’s since 2012.
Born and brought up near Nottingham, he worshipped at LSM as an undergraduate, reading history at Christ’s College, and then theology at Emmanuel College while training for the priesthood at Westcott House. Ordained in 2003, he ministered in city centre parishes in London and Liverpool before returning to Cambridge in 2009 to be Assistant Chaplain and a research student at Emmanuel, completing his PhD on the episcopate in the reign of George II.
He writes for the Bible Reading Fellowship, lectures aboard cruises, and is a regular columnist and reviewer for the Church Times. To relax, Fr Robert reads politics, theology and biography, eats out too much and watches Nottingham Forest fail to make any progress in the Championship!

Fr Mark Bishop is a self-supporting Associate Priest at Little St Mary’s.
Fr Mark was born and educated in Cambridge, studying at The Leys School (in LSM Parish) and Downing College. He was ordained deacon in 2002 and priest in 2003. When not at LSM, he was formerly a barrister specialising in Health & Safety cases and other regulatory work. He now works in criminal law. He is also a member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal and Chancellor of the Diocese of Lincoln. He is married to Christine and has three daughters.
Fr Edward Green is Assistant Curate at Little St Mary’s.
Fr Ed came to Cambridge from Sussex in 2010 to train as a teacher, and then worked for several years in the field of Special Educational Needs in various schools in the East of England, ending as Head of English at a school near Ely. During that time he also studied interfaith relations at the Woolf Institute, and he still retains an active interest in that area. After three years of study at Westcott House he was ordained priest in Ely Cathedral in 2023, having previously served as a deacon at our neighbouring church of St Bene’t’s.
Fr Ed has now returned to LSM, where he was a regular worshipper for six years before beginning his training for ordination. He met his wife Katie during a production of Princess Ida, the first of many Gilbert & Sullivan operettas in which they have appeared over the years, and in 2016 they were married here. Katie is a longstanding altar server at LSM. They also enjoy coastal walks and spend many holidays in Cornwall and Wales.

For four years he lived in the Dutch city of The Hague while studying at the University of Leiden. Ann Auger is Treasurer and Electoral Roll Officer for Little St Mary’s.
Ann is originally from North-East England and came to Cambridge to read English Literature at Christ’s College. This has not stopped her straying into other areas of study, most recently an Advanced Diploma in Accounting which coincided nicely with LSM needing a new Treasurer. She works for Downing Place United Reformed Church, just up the road from LSM, where she runs a popular lunchtime concert series as well as producing their magazine and looking after the accounts and other matters as their Finance & Compliance Officer. Ann loves the music at LSM and joined the choir soon after starting to worship here. She is married to Daniel, whom she met at LSM. Her passions include knitting, British wool, detective fiction/drama and loose-leaf tea, preferably all at the same time.

Andrew has served as Director of Music at Peterborough Cathedral and Director of the Royal School of Church Music, and has held assistant posts at Westminster Abbey and Westminster Cathedral. He is also a Director of Harrison & Harrison Organ Builders in Durham. He has played in four continents and his compositions have been widely published and broadcast.

Sarah MacDonald is Honorary Associate Organist at Little St Mary’s.
Sarah came to the UK from her native Canada in 1992 to read for a degree in music at Cambridge as Organ Scholar of Robinson College, after studying piano, organ, singing and conducting at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. After taking her MA in 1999, she was appointed Director of Music and Fellow at Selwyn College, the first woman to hold such a post in any Oxford or Cambridge College. She also directs the Girls’ Choir at Ely Cathedral. Sarah was Assistant Choir Director (with special responsibility for the Junior Choir) and Assistant Organist at LSM from 2001 until September 2008, and we welcome her frequent returns. In 2014 she accompanied the LSM choirs in their CD recording His Sweet Art, and in 2018 she was elected an Associate of the Royal School of Church Music in recognition of her services to church music and liturgy.
